Served by Others

Someone once told me it takes a village to raise a child, and I am a true believer of that.  This statement has become more and more true in our lives.  We have been surrounded the last six weeks by an incredible community of people. I can not express how THANKFUL I am for all of the help we have received as we have transitioned from a family of three to four is unbelievable at times.  Those that we consider to be our friends, family, neighbors, and community have truly blessed us in  so many ways.  The ways that we have been served have been countless.  One of the things that I have learned is that our family  has extended beyond those that are blood.   We LOVE our immediate families, and they have served and loved us.  However, those who we have been apart of our lives through church, jobs, and in our neighborhood have also blessed us.  One of the greatest blessings we have received is numerous meals and play dates.  These play dates are not only excellent for Brynn, but they have helped all of us continue.   Brynn has LOVED each play date, and at times I tell Matt her social schedule is better than ours at times.  :)   We wanted to highlight some of the great times.

My New Best Friend. . .

Brynn told us recently that she had a new best friend.  Molly, Parker, and Scott have been her best buddies for a long time.  (All 3 we LOVE, and are GREAT friends)  So to discover she had a new best friend was news to both of us.  I asked her who her new best friend was and she replied, "Madelyn Grace Clayton."  She proceeded to tell us she was going to be her best friend FOREVER since she was her sister.  With that said, her attitude has been excellent about having a sister.  She is very helpful,  and smothers her from time to time.   Each morning she wakes up looking for "sissy" or "Madelyn Grace", because she NEEDS to be held by Brynn. :) It is a bond and a relationship that I pray continues to flourish over the years.

VBS

Brynn attended her first Vacation Bible School this week at SGUM. The theme for the week was Backstage with the Bible. (All the kids were Rock Stars)  The church is about a mile from our home, and this is where Brynn will be attending preschool in the Fall.  We had many reasons for sending  B this week: to learn about Jesus, meet friends at SGUM, have fun, and become comfortable with the staff at SGUM.  Each one of these goals was met, and exceeded.  She LOVED it, and could not wait to go each evening, and learned a ton.  In fact she wondered why it was not every night. :)

 Last Night of VBS!

Madelyn continues to grow and become more alert. We visited the doctor today as she had an allergic reaction to soap.  At this time we are eliminating items to determine the cause.  :(  Overall she is healthy, and continuing to grow.  She weighed 10lbs 10 ounces.   Her sleep schedule is very erratic, and we continue to pray that it gets better.

4th of July

4th of July

Wednesday was the Fourth of July.  Brynn learned that the 4th of July was America's Birthday in Preschool a few weeks ago.  Since she learned that it was America's Birthday she has been excited for the Fourth of July. Brynn LOVES birthdays, and PARTIES!!  She anxiously looks forward to birthdays just to celebrate.   Matt had the 4th of July off of work so we celebrated as a family , and with some friends. This year we went to the Kernersville Parade, and  in the evening Brynn and Matt went to a 4th of July Celebration in High Point! (It was EXTREMELY hot, so Madelyn did not attend the evening activities!!)

Brynn had us all wear a different color Red, White, Blue.

Madelyn Grace

It is hard to believe that Madelyn was born four weeks ago yesterday!! She has been a blessing to our lives.  She is the most laid back baby who loves to sleep!! However, she loves to sleep during the day.  Her days and nights are confused. :( At this time she loves to be cuddled, take a bath, and swing.  Her big sister loves to sing "This Little Light of Mine" to her when she cries.  A few weeks ago we had some new born pics taken.  Below are a few of our favorites:
